Audi boss Mattia Binotto has signalled his intention to fight for F1 world championships by the end of the decade.
The German manufacturer will join F1 in just over one year when it takes over the Sauber-run squad currently running under the Stake moniker.
Stake is currently struggling for F1 performance and has failed to score a point across the 18 rounds held so far.
Binotto has been handed the reins to the project and will be joined midway through 2025 by Jonathan Wheatley, who will take on the team principal role.
But as Audi looks to make an impression on the F1 competition, Binotto highlighted it will take several years for it to become successful.
"It’s not only climbing a big mountain, it’s climbing Everest. It will take several years," Binotto told BBC Sport.
"Our objective is by the end of the decade to be able to fight for the championships."
Binotto also addressed the pending partnership between himself and Wheatley and asserted he doesn't see any issues arising regarding team duties.
"The collaboration will certainly be fruitful," Binotto stated.
"I don’t think there is any overlap, I do not foresee any problems. On the contrary, I think having an incredible expert as he is from racing and myself back at the factory will make the team stronger."
