Kimi Antonelli has officially been reinstated to fourth place after Mercedes protested his five-second time penalty in Australia.

Antonelli was penalised in Melbourne after the stewards judged he was released into the path of Nico Hulkenberg during the race.

The penalty dropped him back to fifth place after the rookie took the chequered flag in fourth behind team-mate George Russell.

Mercedes protested the penalty after the race as it found a new camera angle to show the stewards.

It was deemed that Antonelli's route back to the fast lane was not beyond the boundaries of legality, resulting in the penalty being eradicated.

With Antonelli back in fourth place, Alex Albon has been pushed back to fifth  for Williams.

Antonelli's result marks the best finish for a grand prix debutant since Kevin Magnussen scored a podium on his first entry at the season-opening round in 2014.
