Fernando Alonso wants Aston Martin to "talk less and deliver more" after a home Spanish Grand Prix ended point-less.

Alonso failed to make Q3 in Barcelona, and finished a lapped 12th as he did not score points for the third time in the last four races in what has been a below-par start to the year for the team.

After 10 races in 2023, Alonso had 137 points and was third in the Drivers' championship with six podiums to his name with Aston third in the Constructors' on 181 points.

The Spanish GP marked round 10 of the 2024 season, with Alonso on just 41 points in ninth with the team down in fifth on 58 points, with a best finish of fifth in Saudi Arabia.

Reflecting on the fruit-less visit to his home country, Alonso felt the Silverstone team got what it deserved with the blank haul - and urged it to "talk less."

"For sure it is disappointing as we didn't score any points, but we deserved not to score any points because we didn't have the pace the whole weekend," the two-time world champion told media including RacingNews365.

"In the race, it was extremely difficult as when you slide so much in the corners, you kill the tyres so you have two problems.

"You don't have the pace, plus you have a lot of degradation, so all in all, it was a very long race for us.

"[We are missing] pure load, it is frustrating but there is nothing that you can do now.

"But we cannot get too frustrated. It is time to work harder, to talk less and deliver more."

More pain coming

The AMR24 struggled in the high-speed long corners of Barcelona, with Alonso also fearing that the upcoming Austrian and British Grands Prix at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone would be as equally "painful" as upgrades fail to deliver the intended boost.

"You start thinking about Austria immediately after the checkered flag and what you can do differently, but I think it is going to be painful as well," added Alonso.

"It has some characteristics of Barcelona with the long corners and high-speed sections, so it will be tough, and also at Silverstone.

"We've been upgrading the car a lot, but we haven't delivered the results, so now it is a matter of whatever we bring to the track, it delivers what we expect and we will start to get better and better.

"We need to work hard, get better every race but without too much talk or over-promising."
