Which records does Max Verstappen have?

At 17 years and 166 days, Verstappen was the youngest driver ever to make his debut in Formula 1. This was during the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. Verstappen drove in ninth place for a long time and seemed to be scoring points directly, but an engine problem ruined his plans.

Youngest F1 driver in Q3

Two weeks after his F1 debut, Verstappen traveled to the Sepang International Circuit for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Dutchman had a strong start to the weekend. In all free practice sessions, Verstappen was in the top ten. Verstappen was also fast in qualifying: he set a time of 1:51.981 in Q3 with his Toro Rosso, which earned him the sixth starting position.

The Sunday in Malaysia also went excellently for Verstappen. The Dutch driver had a strong race in his STR10 and converted his start in the top ten into a points finish. At 17 years and 180 days, he is the youngest F1 driver to ever score points. Verstappen finished seventh at Sepang.

In the 2023 F1 season, Max Verstappen achieved 21 podiums out of 22 races. Originally, there should have been 23 races, but due to bad weather, the Imola Grand Prix was canceled. The only Grand Prix where the Dutchman did not secure a podium was in Singapore, where Max Verstappen finished fifth. With this year's record, Verstappen surpasses his own record from 2022, having secured a remarkable eighteen podiums in that season.

Most wins in an F1 season

In the 2023 season, Max Verstappen achieved a new record by securing nineteen Grand Prix victories in a single season of 22 races.

Before 2023, Max was already a record holder, as in 2022, he won fifteen out of the 22 races, breaking the previous record held by Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher. Both had won thirteen races in a single Formula 1 season.
 

Most points in an F1 season

In 2022, Verstappen set a new record for the most points in a single F1 season with 454 points. The Dutchman has broken this record in 2023 with an impressive 575 points in one season.

Most consecutive wins

After the Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen broke the record for most consecutive wins. Indeed, the two-time world champion has won 10 Grands Prix in a row, beating Sebastian Vettel who held the record with nine wins in a row.

After the Singapore Grand Prix, Max Verstappen won every race until the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia. It seemed that Verstappen would break his own record. In Australia, the Dutchman experienced a problem with his brakes, causing him to retire and putting an end to his streak of victories.

Michael Schumacher once broke the record for most consecutive wins after taking pole position, with 12 wins in a row after starting from first place.

Max Verstappen officially broke this Schumacher record during the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, where he won the race for the 13th time in a row after starting from pole position. His first pole/win in this streak came during a victory at the Dutch Grand Prix in 2022.
