Alex Albon will be investigated by the FIA stewards after the Singapore Grand Prix for a potential practice start infringement.

The Williams driver will start the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from the pit lane after the Grove-based squad changed the set-up of the suspension on his FW47.

He was due to start at the back of the pack anyway, after the 29-year-old and team-mate Carlos Sainz were both disqualified from qualifying in the Southeast Asian city-state for non-compliant DRS flaps on their cars.

The pair had originally qualified P12 and P13, respectively, in what was ultimately a disappointing grid-setting session for the team.

However, Albon could face further punishment after being alleged to have not followed the race director's instructions as he prepared for the start under the lights in Singapore.

If found guilty, the two-time podium finisher could receive a sporting penalty, something that would likely mean a grid drop for the subsequent round, the United States Grand Prix.
