Williams Team Principal James Vowles is ready for the 2024 challenge with the team, as they look to improve on seventh in the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship.

The team launched the FW46 livery this week at an event in New York City, showing off the mix of classic and modern paint scheme that represents their current progress.

After taking over at the beginning of last season, Vowles has overseen a resurgence with Williams after a period where they have struggled to break into the top 10 regularly.

Alex Albon managed to qualify in the top ten on seven occasions last year, while Logan Sargeant also scored points at his home race in his debut season.

Vowles admits that finishing seventh is meaningless without proper progress within the team, as they look to get back to winning ways.

"As harsh as it sounds, I'm proud of what we've achieved but seventh doesn't mean a tremendous amount to me. We've done a good job, not a great job, but a good job," said Vowles.

Vowles: We will get to excellence

Williams had its strongest season in five years in 2023, after failing to challenge the frontrunners in the previous regulation cycle.

Their last race win is still the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix, won by Pastor Maldonado, and its last podium was with George Russell during the rain-affected 2021 Belgian Grand Prix.

Vowles says their progress so far is only the start, and expects the team to strive for "excellence" in the coming years.

"Here's what excellence looks like and here's the gap that we've got to fill between those two. You're not going to do it in one year, that's simply just not possible," said Vowles.

"But we will get there and we will get there because the perseverance, the belief, the passion is at the highest level I've ever seen. That carries through a tremendous amount."
