Fernando Alonso was the cause of a second red flag in FP2 for the Japanese Grand Prix after a mistake just minutes after the session resumed.
Jack Doohan's heavy crash halted the hour the first time. Alonso dipped a wheel on the grass heading into Degner 2 which sent him wide onto the gravel, where he spun and beached his Aston Martin.
It was the end of the Spaniard's session and there may well be floor damage to his car.
It was not, however, a long disruption, with the session starting again after a short delay, leaving just 20 minutes for teams to get as much information as possible from the hour.
