Red Bull has confirmed the existence of a system that adjusts the front bib clearance of the RB20 car.
Ahead of the US Grand Prix weekend, a report emerged which suggested one F1 team was under scrutiny for having a device that changed the ride height of the car between qualifying and the race.
It later emerged that the team in question was Red Bull, who is currently locked in a tight championship battle with McLaren.
The Milton Keynes-based squad is currently sitting second in the constructors' championship while Max Verstappen is leading the drivers' table as he pursues a fourth world title.
Red Bull has outlined it has held discussions with the FIA regarding the device and has initiated a plan going forward to ensure it is operating within the confines of the technical regulations.
“Yes it exists although it is inaccessible once the car is fully assembled and ready to run,” a Red Bull spokesperson told RacingNews365.
“In the numerous correspondence we have with the FIA, this part came up and we have agreed a plan going forward.”
F1 teams are largely restricted from making changes to the car after the cars roll out of the garage at the start of qualifying.
A lower ride height during qualifying would allow the car to produce more downforce, and thus more speed.
Having the ability to further raise the ride height for the race ensures the skid planks do not wear away and result in a disqualification.
