For all inside Red Bull, Racing Bulls, and the new Powertrains department, the upcoming 24 hours will likely be tense.
In the early hours of the morning last Friday [BST and CET], Red Bull and Racing Bulls launched their challengers for this season, predominantly the liveries of the cars, at the home of Ford in Detroit.
Up until now, neither the RB22 nor VCARB03 has turned a wheel, but that changes today [Tue] as the latter will take to the track for the first time.
It means the first power unit conceived and constructed by Red Bull Powertrains, after a tough decision made by Red Bull to plough its own furrow following two decades of being a customer and beholden to other manufacturers, will run in one of its cars.
Yes, there has been plenty of dyno running in preparation for this day, but today marks a milestone for both teams, their drivers and Red Bull Powertrains.
RacingNews365 can confirm that Liam Lawson and rookie team-mate Arvid Lindblad will conduct a demo run of no more than 15 kilometres at Imola in the VCARB 03. That will provide the basis for systems checks and ensure all is running as planned.
On Wednesday, Lawson and Lindblad will be back behind the wheel for a more expansive shakedown at Imola via a filming day in which the car can cover up to 200 kilometres.
The car will then be back in action from Monday next week for the private five-day pre-season at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya involving both teams.
