Up until his recent retirement, Kimi Raikkonen was the most experienced F1 driver on the current grid. The 2007 World Champion enjoyed a stellar career, which saw him amass 21 wins along with his title.

The Finn made his Formula 1 debut in similar circumstances to that of Max Verstappen. After competing in only 21 car races prior to his F1 career, Raikkonen joined the Sauber F1 Team for the 2001 season. Peter Sauber, the team's owner who put his faith in a young Raikkonen, was immediately rewarded when the rookie finished in sixth at the season-opener in Australia.

Raikkonen moved to McLaren in 2002, and narrowly missed out on his first victory at the season's French Grand Prix, Michael Schumacher, the eventual winner, would secure his fifth world title at the same race. 2003, however, would see an upturn in form for Raikkonen. He challenged for the title, despite winning only one race, and went on to lose the championship to Schumacher by just two points.

2004 was a lacklustre campaign for Raikkonen, but he mounted another championship challenge in 2005, where this time he lost out to Fernando Alonso. After spending another year with McLaren in 2006, the Finn moved to Ferrari in 2007, and secured the title in his first season with the team.

Raikkonen would then spend two more years with the Scuderia before briefly leaving the sport at the end of 2009 to try his hand at other racing categories, including rallying. He returned to Formula 1 for the 2012 season with the Lotus F1 Team, winning two races with the outfit before rejoining Ferrari in 2014.

From there, Raikkonen spent five seasons with the Italian squad, winning one race at the 2018 United States Grand Prix before swapping seats with Charles Leclerc at Sauber, which then became known as Alfa Romeo Racing.

For his final three years in the sport, Raikkonen mostly found himself battling in the midfield. He decided to leave F1 at the end of the 2021 season.
