Jos Verstappen has aimed criticism at the Red Bull F1 team following its defeat to McLaren at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Lando Norris took the chequered flag ahead of Max Verstappen, with the gap reading a convincing 22 seconds at the end of the race.

In a bid to halt McLaren's recent title surge, Red Bull reportedly switched to an old-spec floor on Verstappen's car for the race weekend.

Red Bull has run into complications with the development of its car this year, leaving it searching for answers as the competition nips at its heels.

However, Jos Verstappen, father to Max, has criticised the team for deploying the tactic of switching to older parts at Zandvoort.

"Maybe I shouldn't say it, but I'm doing it anyway," Jos told De Telegraaf. "The fact that you have to go back to the car from the beginning of this year says enough.

“They just don't have it right here at the moment. I think they should take a good look in the mirror."

McLaren's strong event at Zandvoort has seen it narrow the gap to Red Bull in the constructors' championship, with the margin now reading just 31 points.

"Max knew this was coming,” Verstappen Senior added. “He just didn't have a chance. This way it's going to be really tough the rest of the year.

“Max is doing everything he can, but doesn't have the material to finish it. It was already exceptional that he qualified second.”
