Hamilton warns F1 rivals: I'm so much hungrier now

Lewis Hamilton has been reflecting on the moment he felt he was "more powerful" than his rivals during the early stages of his career.

Lewis Hamilton has issued a warning to his rivals that he is "so much hungrier now" than in the past. The seven-time World Champion will enter into his 17th season in Formula 1 in 2023, with the year also set to mark his 11th campaign with the Mercedes team. However, Hamilton has been reflecting on the very beginnings of his racing career in a post on Instagram, in which he spoke of the moment he received his first go-kart. "I remember how excited I was when I saw my first go-kart wrapped up in my living room," Hamilton wrote. "I saw it before I was supposed to and had to act all surprised when my parents called me in to open it. Even walked in with my back turned to it and acted like it wasn't there."

Hamilton felt 'powerful' from early stages

Hamilton recalled his early feelings of being "at one" with the car, and suggested that his hunger for the sport has only grown stronger as the years have gone by. "From the very first time I got to drive it, I felt at one," he explained. "I knew I was meant to do this. I knew I was powerful. More powerful and hungrier than other kids. "That hunger was there from day one and it’s still here today. I was hungry then, so much hungrier now." Hamilton will join teammate George Russell at the launch of Mercedes' 2023 challenger at Silverstone on 15 February.
