Haas Formula 1 team owner Gene Haas has admitted that he is “embarrassed” by his squad's recent performance in the sport.

Earlier this week, the Kannapolis-based outfit announced that Guenther Steiner would not return to his Team Principal position this season.

Haas has endured a difficult run of form of late, finishing bottom of the Constructors' Championship twice in the last three years.

Despite the slump, Haas has asserted that he is not interested in selling the team going forward.

Haas has operated closely with Ferrari since it made its F1 debut in 2016 with the Italian outfit supplying parts such as suspension and various other parts, as well as the Power Unit.

However, Haas stated that he has not been left satisified with his team's performance amid its partnership with Ferrari.

“Ferrari has been very good to us,” Haas said. “They have been with us since day one, they build incredible engines.

“Their suspension is extremely good. We have been using a lot of their hardware. It works really well.

“They really do help us. I’m embarrassed that we haven’t been able to do better with it but going forward, I want to take advantage of good equipment that a lot of other teams don’t have.”

Ferrari benefit

Haas added that having a partner like Ferrari, who has deep roots in F1 history, will be a major benefit for his team going forward.

“Things are going to get a lot more competitive,” he said.

“Red Bull have AlphaTauri, we’re starting to see these relationships evolve, and I think the competition is going to be very intense, so having a partner like Ferrari is going to be very important.”

“We’re very happy to stay with Ferrari. I hope we can help them in terms of reliability. Going forward, when Sauber drops Ferrari power [in 2026], we would be Ferrari’s only user.

“They might want to pick up a customer or two. Maybe they’ll be happy with us. But we have got to do better. We can’t be running so far behind Ferrari. We need to be closer to them.”
