Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack has urged Formula 1 fans not to turn off their televisions following Red Bull's dominant display in Bahrain.

The Milton Keynes-based squad secured a 1-2 finish on Saturday, with Max Verstappen holding a 22-second lead over teammate Sergio Perez across the line.

Red Bull's display has sprouted fears that another season of domination lies ahead after it won 21 out of the 22 races last year.

However, Krack has suggested that rival teams could catch up to Red Bull as the season progresses.

“I can’t make any prediction like that but the fact is [there are] 24 races,” Krack replied when asked if the season outlook could be more interesting than the Bahrain outing.

“We have seen last year, you can make developments, you can make recoveries.

“I would not say ‘let's switch off the TV now’. I think everybody will push as much as they can.

“There are some great teams around so I would not be surprised if we see some of the other teams catching up or doing the developments.”

Aston Martin not focused on Red Bull

Aston Martin ended the opening round in Bahrain in ninth and 10th having secured a podium at the venue 12 months ago.

The Silverstone-based squad is embroiled in a closely packed group consisting of teams such as McLaren and Mercedes.

With Red Bull seemingly too far ahead to compete against as it stands, Krack asserted that Aston Martin is focused on itself rather than its rivals.

“I'm not looking at that too much,” Krack said. “When you have a new car first you have to look at yourself, try to identify where do we need to improve it, where we have to work on it.

“Only later you look at what others are doing. What we saw already in testing [is] that they [Red Bull] are quick.

“So that is not a not a big surprise because we improved but they improved as well.“
