Max Verstappen has reduced his deficit in the F1 drivers' title to 55 points, following both McLaren drivers crashing out in the United States Grand Prix Sprint.

Verstappen claimed the sprint win at the Circuit of the Americas ahead of George Russell and Williams' Carlos Sainz, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri watched on.

Piastri attempted a switch back on Norris at the first corner on the opening lap, but found himself sandwiched between Nico Hulkenberg and his team-mate.

As a result, Hulkenberg and Norris spun, while Piastri pulled off the circuit with significant suspension damage. It increases the pressure on the McLaren pair ahead of qualifying.

The result has seen Red Bull close to within seven points of Ferrari in the fight for third in the constructors' standings.
