In tricky windy conditions at the Circuit of the Americas, Max Verstappen prevailed as fastest by 0.320s ahead of Charles Leclerc.

The top three were separated by a tenth of a second towards the end of the session. Both Verstappen and Leclerc found gaps in the late traffic and showed their true pace in the closing moments of FP3.

The second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz was third fastest and a further 0.446s behind, while Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top four.

George Russell (Mercedes) struggled to put together a lap, oversteering on the exit of Turn 1 before aborting his effort. He ultimately ended the session seventh quickest and 1.2s off the pace.

Mick Schumacher struggled with gearbox issues, while Zhou Guanyu also suffered from technical troubles which meant that he only completed three laps.
