Charles Leclerc topped the first free practice session at the Italian Grand Prix ahead of Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton on home soil for the Scuderia.
Mercedes driver George Russell rounded out the top three in the opening hour of running at Monza, ahead of Liam Lawson and Kimi Antonelli.
Lando Norris led early on, but slipped to sixth, a tenth ahead of Arvid Lindblad in the leading Racing Bulls car.
Gabriel Bortoleto continued his — and Audi's — strong form with eighth, ahead of the Alpines of Franco Colapinto and Paul Aron, who was deputising for Pierre Gasly.
Colton Herta, having crashed heavily in F2 practice earlier in the day, saw his FP1 end after 20 minutes. A suspected hydraulic issue saw his Cadillac grind to a halt, bringing out a red flag.

It was a relatively calm start to the weekend at the Temple of Speed — on-track, at least.
News of Gasly being stripped of his Monaco Grand Prix podium dropped at the start of FP1 in Monza, drawing attention away from those on circuit.
The Frenchman, sitting out the session for Aron as part of the FIA's rookie practice requirements, could only look on, with the driver who has been awarded third place from Monte Carlos, Isack Hadjar, also on the sidelines due to the wrist injury he sustained in the summer break.
On track, Norris was quickest in the early running, putting his McLaren at the top of the timing sheets when the Herta-induced red flag came out.
A few drivers have wild moments, including Leclerc and Fernando Alonso, but there was nothing too dramatic to write home about.
Lawson continued to impress, spending most of the hour in the top five runners, clearly feeling comfortable on his second weekend in the RB22.
With Max Verstappen sitting out, Ayumu Iwasa in the other Red Bull ended the session down in P17, behind Aron and Luke Browning, who were the quickest rookies, in P10 and P15 for Alpine and Williams, respectively.
