Lewis Hamilton clocked the fastest time during qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix, getting the better of title rival Max Verstappen.
Hamilton's benchmark of 1:07.934, set with a new engine, put him four-tenths clear of Verstappen, who holds a 19-point advantage in the championship standings.
Hamilton will keep top spot for Saturday's Sprint Qualifying race, with his five-place grid penalty not applying until Sunday's main Grand Prix.
Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez followed in the other Mercedes and Red Bull cars, as AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly once again claimed the 'best of the rest' title in fifth.
