Lewis Hamilton has asserted that he will change his approach to a race weekend with immediate effect following a frustrating event in Miami.
Hamilton was not in contention for the front-running positions throughout the weekend, falling short in both the sprint sessions and grand prix qualifying.
His race on Sunday was largely compromised on the opening lap after he made contact with Franco Colapinto, sustaining significant damage to his car.
The seven-time champion crossed the line in sixth place, revealing he spent much of the race in “no man’s land”.
As he looks to make a step forward next time out, Hamilton has insisted he will alter his approach heading into future race weekends.
“I'm going to have a different approach for the next race,” Hamilton told media including RacingNews365.
“The way we're preparing at the moment is not helping. We'll see how that goes for the next race.
“Without the damage, I think we would have been right up in the fight.
“The car was feeling good on the laps the grid. So it's a shame, because it doesn't really truly reflect the hard work that the team has done.”
Hamilton fears Montreal struggle
Next up on the F1 calendar is the Canadian Grand Prix, an event Hamilton has won seven times - the joint most alongside Michael Schumacher.
However, Hamilton conceded it is likely to be another challenging event for Ferrari due to its dependence on straight-line speed.
“We're going to another track with long straights and we're losing three to four tenths just some straight line speed.
“So that's there, and it's going to be there until we fix it.
“A weekend to forget [in Miami], we move forwards and we'll try and see if we can attract more at the next one.“
