Lando Norris addresses Ferrari 'worry' as major upgrade set for introduction

Lando Norris has addressed Ferrari’s second power-unit upgrade for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, insisting it is not something that worries McLaren.

As part of the Additional Development Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) scheme, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will both have a new and more powerful engine.

Top speed and horsepower have been the Scuderia’s biggest weaknesses since the introduction of the new power-unit regulations, while its chassis is viewed as the best on the grid.

However, this has left Ferrari exposed at high-speed circuits, making Monza a huge test for the Maranello-based outfit.

The hope for the Italian marque will be that its new engine pushes it closer to the Mercedes power unit’s performance, with Norris expecting it to be a bigger threat from this weekend.

Asked if he is worried about Ferrari this weekend following its engine upgrade, Norris told select media, including RacingNews365: "Not worried at all. I mean, they’ve been very competitive, and it probably will make them more competitive. 

"So, good on them. They’ll make my life a bit trickier. It’s clearly been their biggest weakness, I would say, in many scenarios. So they’ll become a bigger threat this weekend for sure. 

"But I’m not worried. If they beat us, they beat us because they deserve to. So it’s not a worry. We have to just keep focused on our own job. We know it’s a different track. 

"We know that there are still, you know, we’ve won two races, but it’s not like we’ve been competitive the whole season. And we know that there are things we still need to work on, like I’ve said many times. 

"So this is a different track. We’ll be patient. We’ll see where we stand, and then we’ll give you a better answer."
