Isack Hadjar thankful to Red Bull for 'even sweeter' feeling after podium decision

Isack Hadjar has thanked for Red Bull team for its efforts in trying to return his Monaco Grand Prix podium after it took the case to the FIA's International Court of Appeal. 

Hadjar stood on the podium in Monte Carlo with third place after Pierre Gasly had two five-second time penalties added to his elapsed principality race time, dropping him to seventh. 

Alpine then successfully lodged a right of review into Gasly's twin pit-lane speeding penalties, promoting the Frenchman back to third, but Red Bull and McLaren then lodged an appeal with the highest legal authority in FIA-backed motorsport, the International Court of Appeal.

The hearing took place in August, with the decision handed down on Friday, that Gasly's penalties would be reinstated, thus promoting Hadjar back to third place - his first podium for Red Bull and second of his career.

Having had the experience of standing alongside race-winner Kimi Antonelli and second-placed Lewis Hamilton, Hadjar now officially has the podium recorded in the history books. 

"It's great to get the podium back," said Hadjar. 

"I've always said you could never take away the feeling of standing on the Monaco podium, no matter the result, but to have it officially in the record books is sweeter. 

"A big thanks to Laurent [Mekies] and the team for fighting hard off-track to get this one back, my first in these colours."
