Max Verstappen has delivered a health update after detailing earlier in the weekend that he is battling an illness at the Dutch Grand Prix.
The four-time champion confirmed he was under the weather after qualifying from Zandvoort on Saturday, describing flu-like symptoms.
This weekend's event, which sees huge support for Verstappen, marks F1's last trip to Zandvoort for the foreseeable future, with the organisers electing not to extend their contract with the sport.
Verstappen endured a challenging qualifying outing and ended the session in seventh place - his lowest qualifying position on home soil.
Speaking ahead of the grand prix on Sunday, the 28-year-old noted that his condition has improved overnight.
“I'm feeling a little better today, so that's always a positive,” he told Viaplay.
“Physically, yes. My nose… still a little cough, but if you’re already feeling a bit better physically, that’s obviously better. Especially here at this track.
Verstappen asserted after qualifying that the illness is not impacting his performance behind the wheel.
The upcoming race is the first that Verstappen is taking part in since he signed a Red Bull extension that will see him remain with the team until at least the end of the 2030 season.
