Ritomo Miyata claimed his first Formula 2 victory in a Spanish sprint which had huge effects on the title race.
The sole Hitech in the field after Colton Herta's withdrawal, Miyata eased to a breakthrough victory, but the biggest drama centred around championship leader Nikola Tsolov.
Tucked up behind Campos team-mate Noel Leon, Tsolov requested to be let through into fourth place to ease ahead of title rival Rafael Camara, who was running in sixth to earn more points than the Ferrari junior.
However, Campos did not issue the instruction, meaning Tsolov remained behind Leon until he clipped a wall in the final sector and stalled the car, leading to a DNF.
This then gave Camara a perfect opportunity to reduce the 11-point gap to Tsolov, which he did with a sixth-placed finish, earning three points, thus holding 169 points to Tsolov's 177, a deficit of eight.
Emerson Fittipaldi Jr and Laurens van Hoepen completed the Sprint podium.
