Max Verstappen will miss this evening's end-of-season FIA prize-giving gala in Uzbekistan, with the Red Bull driver reportedly being unwell.
According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, despite being required to attend the FIA gala, Verstappen will not be present this evening.
It is a rule that the top three in the F1 drivers' standings must attend the prize-giving event, although exceptions are allowed for legitimate reasons.
Verstappen is reportedly struggling with the flu following the title-deciding Abu Dhabi GP, where he missed out on a record-equalling fifth consecutive drivers' title by just two points.
At the gala, not only will Lando Norris be awarded with the F1 trophy, Verstappen and Oscar Piastri would be honoured for finishing second and third, respectively.
In addition, Verstappen has been nominated for the Action of the Year award in the F1 category, for his sublime opening corner overtake on Piastri in Imola.
