Yuki Tsunoda has described the opening lap of the Singapore Grand Prix as the "worst first lap" of my life after a difficult weekend.
Starting 13th on the grid on the soft tyres, Tsunoda fell to 17th on the opening lap at Marina Bay, and given his tyres, was forced into an early pit-stop and not able to run long to try and rescue a result.
In the end, he finished a lapped 12th as Max Verstappen took second place, with Tsunoda's F1 future increasingly unclear following his poor performances, with a best finish of sixth in Azerbaijan.
Reflecting on his start, Tsunoda explained how he was left with no "space to go."
"It definitely was the worst start or the first lap ever in my life," Tsunoda told media, including RacingNews365.
"I still can't believe what happened on the first lap.
"Every place I tried to go, every corner in the first lap, I was literally covered or blocked by someone. I just didn't have any space to go.
"I lost so many positions in the first lap. It was definitely the worst start ever.
"I don't know what I should have done there. I'm sure there's something I could have done better. That for sure made my life very hard afterwards."
"But the pace I had in the race was the best in my Red Bull Racing career, so it is a shame what I had."
