Charles Leclerc has taken to social media to detail that he feels “okay” after his heavy crash at the Italian Grand Prix.

Leclerc was battling Oscar Piastri in the early stages of the race when he lost control of his Ferrari car at the final corner.

The Monegasque suffered a heavy crash into the barrier, however he was able to walk away from the wreckage on his own feet.

Leclerc told media including RacingNews365, after his assessment by the trackside doctor, that he suffered vision issues in the first minutes after the crash.

With the Spanish Grand Prix taking place so soon after the Monza event, Leclerc detailed that he would have to undergo further tests to ensure he was fit enough to compete in Madrid.

Speaking on social media, Leclerc hinted that he is fit for the weekend, stating: “Not how I wanted the weekend to go.

“Thanks for all the messages. Physically, that was a big one, but I’m okay.

“Emotionally, it hurts even more for something like this to happen here at home, in front of all of you, the tifosi.

“Thank you for the incredible welcome and support all weekend. Monza with you is always something so special.”

Leclerc enters the upcoming Madrid weekend fifth in the drivers' standings.
