Verstappen was driving on intermediate tyres at the Hungaroring on his way to the grid when he crashed into the barriers at Turn 12, totalling his front left suspension just 22 minutes before the race was set to begin.
The driver managed to follow his team’s instructions to get the car to the grid and repair it there instead of committing to a pit lane start, and now F1 have released video and audio footage which shows how the Red Bull mechanics scrambled to get the car ready to race.
Even the experienced team advisor Helmut Marko recognised that the fix had to be “the fastest we have ever done”.
