Max Verstappen survived a spin during SQ2 to take pole position for the sprint race at the Circuit of the Americas.
The Dutchman has endured a challenging weekend so far but has a chance to take another sprint victory when the lights go out on Saturday evening.
Verstappen will be joined on the front row by Charles Leclerc who narrowly missed out on the top spot.
The second row consists of the British duo of Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris, while Oscar Piastri has Carlos Sainz for company on row three.
Sergio Perez could only muster seventh in the second Red Bull car while Mercedes' George Russell qualified in eighth.
