Pirelli have revealed which tyre compound was used by each driver on their fastest lap of the 2022 pre-season test in Barcelona, and it shows some clear trends.

Max Verstappen set the quickest time throughout the three-day event, with a lap of 1:31.720 on the final day on Saturday This was set on the Soft C5 tyre.

Mick Schumacher was second in the rankings, having used the Soft (C4) compound to put in his fastest time of 1:32.241. It should be noted that this was set later on Saturday evening, as Haas were granted extra running time to compensate for what they were forced to miss on Thursday morning due to freight delays.

Next up is Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque also had the Soft (C4) tyre on his Ferrari when he set his quickest lap, a 1:32.415, on Saturday.

The majority of the fastest times occurred on Day 3 of the test, and most used the Soft compounds. Some exceptions were Valtteri Bottas, Lando Norris and Nicholas Latifi, who all had the Medium (C3) tyre on for their quickest runs.

Haas reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi - who was behind the wheel for the afternoon session on Day 1 - was the only driver not to be running the Softs or Mediums for his quickest lap. The Brazilian had the Pirelli prototype tyre on, which is a version of the Hard C2 compound.

The Bahrain test offered a final opportunity for the teams to gather data before the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix takes place in just one week's time.
