Oscar Piastri's new McLaren contract will see him earn up to £20 million a year, putting him on a par with Lando Norris, according to reports.
McLaren announced it had tied Piastri down to a new long-term deal on the eve of the Australian Grand Prix - held in Piastri's home city of Melbourne.
His previous deal expired at the end of the 2026 season, and with Red Bull boss Christian Horner signalling his interest in Piastri during the latest season of Drive to Survive, McLaren has moved to take the 2021 F2 champion off the market.
Although the specifics of Piastri's contract were not revealed by McLaren, the Daily Mail has reported that the fresh terms will see him race for the Woking squad until the end of the decade, and received a bumper pay rise to around £20 million per season.
This puts him equal with team-mate Norris, with two-time grand prix winner Piastri previously earning around £6 million per year.
The Daily Mail has also reported that Piastri's deal features so-called 'accumulator clauses', with his salary being topped up by bonuses, earned by winning grands prix, and drivers' and constructors' championships.
