2027 F1 season calendar unveiled
Formula 1 has unveiled its 2027 race season calendar, featuring 24 grands prix - and a record number of 10 Sprint races.
The 2027 campaign is due to begin in Bahrain on March 14th and conclude in Abu Dhabi on December 12th, with both the Portuguese and Turkish Grands Prix returning to the schedule on June 20th and October 3rd, respectively.
With Portugal and Turkey returning, the Barcelona-Catalunya and Dutch Grands Prix have fallen off for 2027, as Barcelona enters a bi-annual rotation with Belgium starting from 2027.
The season is set to be supplemented by a record-breaking 10 Sprint events, with the Monaco Grand Prix across the first weekend in June set to feature the second race for the first time. For the first time, the season finale in Abu Dhabi will also feature the shorter race format, with six Sprints in the first 12 races and four in the second-half of the season.
There is still uncertainty whether the proposed calendar will be followed, owing to the ongoing Iran War that has seen the 2026 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix postponed whilst the Bahrain GP was rearranged for Malaysia.
F1 has still not confirmed whether the 2026 Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix will go ahead in November and December of this year, but it is increasingly likely that they do not, with Imola understood to be stepping in as the season finale on December 6th.
F1 CEO and president Stefano Domenicali had previously indicated that the middle of September was when the championship required a decision on those two races, owing to freight logistics, and that a decision on whether Bahrain and Saudi Arabia could host early 2027 season races would not need to be formally made until the end of the 2026 calendar year.
