Ocon swaps 'tracked' Alpine for Ferrari following Haas move

Not quite the Ferrari Esteban would like to take possession of, but hey, beggars can't be choosers

They say it's every racing driver's dream to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari. Well, Esteban Ocon has finally been given his chance - even if it is not quite the Ferrari he perhaps has longed for. With Ocon's days at Alpine now firmly behind him, suffering an ignominious end as he was ousted with one race remaining, it has allowed him a glorious opportunity. Serving as an ambassador for Parisian luxury car dealer, Charles Pozzi Group, Ocon was recently handed the keys to a Ferrari 296 GTB. It serves Ocon and the company well, bearing in mind his move from Alpine to Haas, the latter a long-time partner with Ferrari as it uses the Scuderia's power units and other components. Fitted with many extras as part of the Assetto Fiorano package that has been applied to the car, Ocon will at least be hoping it lacks a particular addition that made news midway through last year. After Alpine confirmed Ocon's exit following the Monaco Grand Prix in which he had collided with team-mate Pierre Gasly, he was, of course, on the lookout for a new F1 team. Former Alpine team boss Marcin Budkowski revealed in late July that a tracker had been installed in Ocon's Alpine A110. It was discovered to have spent several hours parked outside the Williams factory in Grove, Oxfordshire. Even though Ocon was leaving, he had not informed the team of the talks. Ultimately, Ocon opted for a switch to Haas, and given those Ferrari links, he has ended up with a very nice set of wheels.
