Max Verstappen has detailed exactly why he believes his father Jos would make a "really good" team boss at any level of motorsport.
When he is not at Verstappen's side, the elder Dutchman is often found rallying, with the two trading tips on such machines and on Verstappen Junior's GT3 racing exploits.
Jos himself was an F1 driver, who last raced in 2003 before effectively giving up on his career to help guide Max through go-karting and eventually into junior racing before graduating to F1 in 2015.
When asked about the importance of his father's role through his motorsport career ahead of the United States GP, Verstappen spoke warmly of his father's expert eye.
"I have so many great memories with my dad from when I just started racing, but for me, what is most impressive is just his knowledge of racing, tuning and setting up cars and go-karts," Verstappen explained to media, including RacingNews365.
"What he taught me from a very young age, that kind of knowledge you can't describe it, but it definitely made me the person I am today, not just driving fast in a car, but the knowledge of the car.
"I think he would be a really good team boss, even though I don't think he wants to be, but he would be a good team boss due to his technical understanding and how you can make the car go faster.
"I still discuss so many things with him about this for him in his rally car and me in the GT3 car, and it is very impressive to have someone like my dad explaining it all and giving you that knowledge.
"At the same time, the years he sacrificed when I started on the way to F1, basically pausing his career in whatever he wanted to do outside of F1, and basically giving it 110%, because I've never seen someone that committed to giving the best opportunities to his son, not only of providing the best material, but actually tuning the material himself."
