Max Verstappen has revealed that he underwent an X-ray after his crash during qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix.
However, the results of the scan showed that he suffered no broken bones in the shunt.
Verstappen was starting his first lap during Q1 but was sent into a spin as he applied the brakes at the opening corner.
The Dutchman skated across the gravel and collided with the barrier, eliminating him from the session.
Images of the four-time champion appeared to show him having discomfort in his hands as he returned to the pit lane.
When asked by media including RacingNews365 how he was feeling, Verstappen replied: “All good.
“I just had to get some X-rays done to see if my hands were okay, but nothing was broken.”
Verstappen is now due to start the season-opening race from Melbourne at the back of the grid, while team-mate Isack Hadjar impressed en route to third.
Expanding on his on-track incident, Verstappen asserted he was completely caught by surprise.
“I just hit the pedal and the whole rear axle just completely locked, which with these Formula 1 cars, is very weird.
“I've never experienced that in my whole life.
“There are so many things that we need to look at, I think, in general, as a sport.”
