Max Verstappen causes a stir with significantly modified Red Bull

With the Miami Grand Prix fast approaching, there is a lot of intrigue surrounding how different the cars may look following the return after a five-week break.

The first indication of how vast the changes could be was seen by Red Bull, who took part in a filming day at the Silverstone Circuit on Wednesday.

Although closed off to the public, there were still some spy shots that managed to leak through.

A deeper look at the RB22 challenger, we can see elements on the front wing endplates that are common across the grid. However, in the opening rounds, such elements were missing from the Red Bull car.

These generally have the purpose of controlling downward turbulence.

Further back, it appears there is a new profile of sidepods. Where there used to be one tight, evenly deflecting line, there now seems to be an acute kink in them halfway through.

And at the rear of the car, Red Bull appears to be experimenting with a new rear wing, and it seems that they have found a different pivot point for the moving parts of the element.

All this makes it obvious that Red Bull is not sitting still in the hunt for stronger performance after a disappointing start.

It is also by no means inconceivable that at Silverstone, they tested the new rules regarding battery management and superclipping for the first time.
