Mercedes led a strong one-two in the opening practice for the Japanese Grand Prix - but its rivals were within striking distance.
Although George Russell and Kimi Antonelli topped the times, all four cars from McLaren and Ferrari were all within 0.3s of the Briton, with Lando Norris besting Oscar Piastri, Charles Leclerc, and Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen in a heavily-upgraded Red Bull was only seventh, over seven-and-a-half tenths off the pace, on the same tyre as Russell.
But can anyone disrupt Mercedes' day?
