Liam Lawson has expressed his desire for "one more lap" in Qatar GP sprint qualifying despite having a "compromised" session.
Lawson fell in 17th place in the first segment of qualifying, less than a tenth behind Esteban Ocon, who was the final driver to make safety for Haas.
New Zealander Lawson was struggling with a too pointy car, which did not affect team-mate Isack Hadjar, who ended in 10th overall.
Reflecting on his session, Lawson felt that with a final lap, he could have made SQ2.
"We started quite far off this morning [in practice] and then going into qualifying we had to make quite a big step," Lawson explained.
"We ended up compromising our lap as well because of it, so it was tough, but with how close it is, I think we were pretty close, and I would have liked one more lap at the end.
"We can move forward, but I don't know how far, and I think it is going to be more of a learning curve for Sunday, so we'll try and learn what we can ahead of another go in qualifying."
