Liam Lawson has acknowledged that F1 drivers are susceptible to “complaining about everything”, admitting it is not something he sees changing going forward.

A number of the F1 competitors have voiced their disappointment with the new cars for 2026 across the opening three rounds of the year.

The animosity paved the way for a series of meetings in April, including one on Monday during which changes to the cars were agreed.

But Lawson has conceded that F1 drivers will never be completely happy when it comes to the performance of any car they are given.

“At the end of the day, there's always going to be things that we want from the car,” he told media including RacingNews365.

“As racing drivers, we kind of complain about everything so I think that'll never change.”

Speaking ahead of Monday's crunch meeting in which changes were agreed, Lawson detailed that the safety element was the most important factor following Oliver Bearman's high-speed crash in Japan last time out.

“On the regulation side, the biggest thing right now is probably the safety aspect of it, especially with what we saw in Japan,” he said.

“I think that's something that we want to avoid in the future going forward. And on the performance side, that's something that obviously will always evolve.

“If you look at any other regulation, the start of it, there's been a huge sort of development over the five-year process that the regulations have been out.

“So, I'm sure these will obviously evolve and get faster and I'm sure we'll find ways to make the cars nicer to drive.

“I hope that we do, because I think at the moment, especially in qualifying, we're trying to put the car on the limit and extract everything out of it in ways that at the moment it feels like we're not able to do that.”
