Lewis Hamilton took to his social media following the Singapore Grand Prix to post a humorous clip in response to Fernando Alonso's team radio anger on Sunday.
In the dying stages of the race around the Marina Bay Circuit, Hamilton was forced to deal with failing brakes and dramatically reduced his pace.
On the final lap, Hamilton consistently took to the escape road and cut corners as he limped his car home to seventh place, crossing the line just four-tenths of a second ahead of Alonso.
It prompted a disgruntled Alonso to voice his frustration over team radio, stating several times: “I don't fucking believe it.”
Hamilton was handed a time penalty after the race for leaving the track multiple times without a justifiable reason and dropped to eighth in the final classification.
It marked another difficult moment for the 40-year-old amid his challenging opening campaign with Ferrari. After 18 rounds, Hamilton is still awaiting his first trip to the podium with his new team.
The seven-time champion then posted a humorous clip on his Instagram story, a compilation of the character Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave, expressing his famous catchphrase: “I don't believe it!”.
Accompanied with the video was Hamilton's caption: “18 years of...”
Hamilton and Alonso are the two longest-serving drivers on the F1 grid and spent one turbulent season as team-mates in 2007, which was Hamilton's rookie campaign.
