Colton Herta will take part in the opening practice session this weekend at Monza for Cadillac, the team has confirmed.
Herta joined the American squad as a test and development driver for the 2026 campaign, which came with the guarantee of several FP1 outings.
Having stepped into the cockpit already in Barcelona and Hungary, Herta will have his third outing of the year this weekend at the Italian Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old will take over driving duties from Sergio Perez before the latter returns to the seat for FP2.
“This is an excellent opportunity to experience different aspects of the MAC-26,” Herta said.
“Having driven on the high-downforce tracks in Barcelona and Budapest, the challenge will be very different in Monza.
“With the car set up for low drag, it will move around more, placing a greater emphasis on accuracy at the braking points and on threading the eye of a needle across the curbs in the chicanes.
“I’m really excited to be able to contribute to the race weekend and to the team’s further development at one of the most iconic circuits in motorsport.”
Herta is vying for a full-time seat with Cadillac in 2027, and his F1 outing will coincide with his F2 programme that continues this weekend at Monza.
