Fernando Alonso fired a furious radio message full of f-bombs after crossing the chequered flag in the Singapore Grand Prix, following a controversial ending for Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso started in 10th but had great race pace, although lost several positions during a slow pit stop. However, the Aston Martin driver quickly worked his way back through the midfield.

The two-time champion worked his way into eighth, before suddenly catching Hamilton on the final lap.

Hamilton had been a comfortable distance ahead of his former McLaren team-mate but found himself without brakes on the final laps.

It caused the Briton to cut several corners, which has seen him summoned to the stewards for exceeding track limits on too many occasions.

Alonso watched on as Hamilton dealt with his major brake problem, and almost snatched seventh from the seven-time world champion.

The Spaniard crossed the finish line just four-tenths behind Hamilton, but furious he was allowed to continue racing without working brakes.

An angry Alonso said over the radio: "I can not fucking believe it. I can not fucking believe it. I can not fucking believe it. I can not fucking believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes?"

When informed the team were looking into it and praised him for recovering to eighth, Alonso replied: "Should be fucking P7. You can not drive. No respect for the red flag yesterday. Today, free track for them. Maybe too much"

Alonso's red flag comment was in response to Hamilton being investigated after third practice on Saturday, for an alleged red flag infringement – no further action was taken.

Alonso later added: "For me, you can not drive when the car is not safe. Sometimes they try to disqualify me with no mirror, and now you have no brakes and everything is fine? I doubt it."
