George Russell has outlined his target of ending the F1 season with a streak of consistency as he sits on the verge of title defeat.
Russell entered the season as the favourite to walk away from the campaign with a maiden title in hand due to his experience over Kimi Antonelli and the lacklustre debut campaign the latter endured in 2025.
However, Antonelli has risen to the challenge and now needs just a ninth place on Sunday in Mexico to become the youngest champion in the sport's history.
Russell has had a mixed run of form of late. Having shown great speed to win in Baku, he has scored just six points in the three rounds since.
As he looks to a stronger 2027 campaign, Russell stated ending the current season on a high is his priority.
“It's definitely important for me to try and gain some consistency,” Russell told media including RacingNews365.
“A couple of races ago, we were on pole by eight tenths and won the race. Then, last week, I finished in P8.
“I've never had a season like this in my career where the performance has fluctuated so much.
“I know it's in there because you can't deliver performances like that in Baku if you've so-called lost it.
“It's just that we're struggling to have a high hit rate.
“We don't know why that is, and as I said, we've never had it. I've never had it personally before in my career. I guess that's probably the priority for me in these last few races.”

Russell points to Ferrari 'advantage' in Mexico
With his title hopes hanging by a thread and largely out of his control, Russell can do little but turn up at the track and fight as hard as he can.
Mexico City hosts round 19 of the campaign this weekend, with the city being a unique setting for F1 due to its high altitude.
Previewing the weekend, Russell predicted: “I think it's going to be very interesting.
“I think turbo lag is going to be a big factor for a lot of teams this weekend. There's obviously no secret that the likes of Ferrari have a smaller turbo than most, so they probably have quite an advantage in this regard.
“We're not sure as yet how challenging it will be, but I can definitely foresee it being not straightforward.”
