Isack Hadjar has been summoned to see the FIA stewards in Mexico City over an alleged misconduct incident involving a fan in the paddock on Friday.
The Red Bull driver is required to report to the stewards' office on Saturday morning at 10:15 local time, shortly before final practice for the Mexican Grand Prix.
The summons cites a potential breach of Article 12.2.1.l of the FIA's International Sporting Code, which covers acts, words or writings causing moral injury or loss to the FIA, its officials or the interests of motorsport.
The stewards' notice does not spell out what exactly took place.
But the timing lines up with footage that circulated widely on social media on Friday, appearing to show Hadjar pushing away a fan who was attempting to take a selfie with him in the paddock.
It remains unclear whether that clip is formally what triggered the hearing.
Penalties available to the stewards for breaches of this kind range from a simple warning or reprimand through to fines.
In more serious cases, sporting sanctions such as grid penalties, time penalties or even a suspension can be imposed, though it is not yet known what category the Hadjar case falls into.
Hadjar will visit the stewards at 10:15 local time on Saturday morning.
