Formula E confirms new free-to-air TV deal for UK viewers

UK viewers will be able to watch Formula E on free-to-air television after Channel 4 snapped up the broadcasting rights.

Formula E and Channel 4 have announced that the UK television channel will become the championship's exclusive free-to-air home, with a multi-year deal coming into effect for 2022. The entire 16-race calendar for Season 8 of the all-electric series will be aired live on Channel 4 and All 4, or on Channel 4 Sport's YouTube channel. Race highlights will also be shown on Channel 4 and All 4, while qualifying sessions will be viewable on the Channel 4 Sport YouTube channel. Presenting the coverage will be veteran broadcasters Vernon Kay and Nicki Shields, alongside expert analyst Dario Franchitti and commentator Jack Nicholls. "Formula E is a fantastically exciting sport and this deal is wonderful news for sports fans," said Pete Andrews, Head of Sport at Channel 4. "We're proud to be showcasing a sport with sustainability at its heart and one that plays such an important role in seeking to combat the climate crisis."
