Carlos Sainz believes the drivers who struggled for form at the São Paulo Grand Prix earlier this month will have a stronger outing in Las Vegas.
Williams endured a disastrous round last in Brazil as it walked away from the race with zero points for the third consecutive race.
A strong result for Racing Bulls saw the gap between the two teams close to 29 points in the fight for sixth place with three rounds remaining.
Sainz highlighted the track layout in Las Vegas will likely suit Williams, while those who were strong in Brazil may have a difficult weekend.
“For me [and] as a team, it's just important to understand how we can keep improving the weaknesses of the long-to-medium, low-speed corner that always compromises us,” he told media including RacingNews365.
“Luckily, we have Vegas next, which is completely the opposite to this.
“Probably the cars that were strong here will be weak in Vegas, and vice versa.”
However, Sainz is wary that Williams may fall back into the field in Qatar, which hosts the penultimate round of the season before the year rounds out in Abu Dhabi.
“Just as a team, we need to get on top of those issues which compromise [us] and will compromise [us in] Qatar,” he said.
“I'm keen to keep working as a team on that.”
Sainz ended last year's Las Vegas Grand Prix on the podium in one of his final races for Ferrari.
