Esteban Ocon has denied that any physical altercation took place between him and any member of the Haas team after being dropped from this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix.

Haas confirmed on Friday that Ryo Hirakawa would replace Ocon for the remainder of the event, having withdrawn him from the car without disclosing an official cause. The team said only that the Frenchman's absence was not down to illness.

The sudden switch triggered a wave of speculation, with reports linking Ocon's benching to a heated radio exchange with race engineer Laura Mueller during second practice over a mandated tyre strategy change from soft to medium compounds.

Other reports went further, alleging a paddock confrontation between Ocon and team principal Ayao Komatsu.

Komatsu himself declined to discuss internal details when asked, refusing to confirm or deny whether the practice dispute was behind the decision to sideline his driver.

Ocon, though, has now issued a statement addressing the speculation directly, rejecting suggestions that violence played any part in the dispute.

"Following the recent decision from Haas F1 Team confirming that I will not be participating in this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix, I wish to formally address some media reports and speculation surrounding the situation," Ocon said.

"Last night, a difference in viewpoints led to a discussion with the parties involved. Whilst I acknowledge that this took place, I categorically reject any reports or allegations suggesting that any form of physical violence was used to resolve any differences of any nature.

"I strongly condemn violence in all its forms and firmly believe that disagreements should always be handled with professionalism, respect, and mutual understanding.

"I kindly ask that speculation be avoided while the matter is being addressed.

"Further updates will be communicated in due course."
