Liam Lawson is at risk of being disqualified from qualifying at this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix, following a potential technical infraction.
The New Zealander had superbly qualified in eighth at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, however, shortly after the session his car was referred to the stewards by FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer.
According to Bauer's report: "Car 30, driver Liam Lawson, was in breach of the minimum MGU-K power requirement just after crossing the line on his fastest lap in Q2 at 15:47:36.
"This is a breach of Articles C5.12.6 and C5.12.7. The driver maximum power demand and the electrical DC power of the ERS-K were reduced at greater rates than what is permitted by the regulations."
If Lawson's car is found to have breached the regulations, the likely outcome will be a disqualification from the session, promoting Racing Bulls team-mate Arvid Lindblad onto the fourth row.
