Max Verstappen finished fastest in the only practice session ahead of United States Grand Prix qualifying.
The Red Bull finished just over a tenth faster than Ferrari's Charles Leclerc as the bumpy track surface at the Circuit of the Americas provided a set-up challenge for the teams and drivers.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton finished third quickest despite setting the fastest middle sector, with both he and Sergio Perez within three-tenths of the Mexican's teammate.
Kevin Magnussen was fourth fastest for Haas ahead of the second Mercedes of George Russell, with Alex Albon positing a fine lap for Williams.
Carlos Sainz was eighth in the second Ferrari, with Nico Hulkenberg ninth in his Haas and Alpine's Pierre Gasly rounding out the top 10.
McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri declined to run on Soft tyres, whilst Lance Stroll completed only two laps in his Aston Martin before brake issues forced an end to his session.
