Upcoming Formula 3 talent and Williams Academy driver Zak O'Sullivan had his first taste of Formula 1 machinery at Silverstone, as part of winning the Aston Martin British Racing Driver Club Young Driver award.

British racer O'Sullivan was GB3 champion in 2021 and subsequently went on to race in F3 this year with Carlin, achieving a best place finish of 2nd at Silverstone.

The Aston Martin British Racing Driver Club Young Driver was created to recognise young racing drivers from the UK and is backed by the F1 outfit. Previous winners include David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Anthony Davidson, George Russell and Lando Norris.

Drivers test F1 machinery, full BRDC membership, an Arai crash helmet, and £200,000 if they win the award.

This year O'Sullivan got to test the 2021 AMR21, marking it the first time a car from the current hybrid era has been used as part of the test.
