2026 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix - Baku Qualifying results
George Russell has the opportunity to claw back points on Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli in the F1 drivers' title race after securing pole position for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Championship leader Antonelli, who goes into the race with an 81-point cushion over Russell, will start from a lowly 16th on the grid after clipping a wall in Q1 that heavily damaged the front-left of his W17.
With Antonelli out of the equation for a front-row slot, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start from second, followed by Oscar Piastri in his McLaren.
For Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, qualifying was a disappointment, with the Ferrari and Red Bull drivers down in sixth and eighth respectively.
